mean man

baby taylor and i begin our third trimester this week. yay week 28!

what's goin on with the little critter during week 28:

*eyebrows and eyelashes are now very noticeable!
*hair on baby's head is growing longer. some babies are born with almost none at all, while others appear to be ready for their first haircut!
*eyes are completely formed now. quite a view from inside!
*baby's body is getting plump and rounded. most of that increase is muscle tissue and bone. fat will be added during the third trimester.
*muscle tone is improving. preparation for the olympics feels like it is taking place in my womb!
*lungs are capable of breathing now (but baby would still struggle and require medical attention if born now)
*i'm suppose to talk to baby often, read stories, sing songs and more. baby can recognize my voice now and will often calm to it later on!
*baby weighs in now at 2.2 pounds and is 14.8 inches.

i thought my bump and i looked pretty normal until.. o my! out of nowhere, this man dumped his opinion on me. here's how the conversation went:

mean man (in an italian accent): what are you? 33? 34 weeks?

me: uh, no only on my 28th week.

mean man: huh? this must be your 2nd baby?

me: no, this is my first bundle of joy.

mean man: well, you have got a BIG baby in there!

me: i do?

mean man: yes!

me: hmmm.. i don't want to talk to you anymore. bye

yes, sad for me, but this really happened. was he trying to say i am huge?? i think so.
sigh, i hope he doesn't know what he's talking about!

i'm so glad my dress still fit!

o! and i bet you thought that we would just skip the honeymoon because, you know, pregnant chicks can't have any fun... ya right! we went on the greatest cruise and now baby taylor has been to atlanta, orlando, the bahamas, st. maarten, and st. thomas. what a go-getter!

when beau and i got back from the honeymoon (only 9 days later,) everyone was saying how much more my tummy stuck out. i think this was the time i grew the most. either that, or i really enjoyed the food on the cruise :)

so......
i have started trying to be around babies more. i love to visit my friend's babies and i really need the practice!

a soccer player??

three people have felt baby taylor in action.

i have been feeling the baby since about week 20. it was on the honeymoon cruise that the little butterfly feeling started to become a part of my day. now, at week 26, i feel the kicking throughout the day. the baby is most active between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. does that mean we have a little night owl???

1) the first person to feel it kick was my friend rachel pollack. it was around week 23, and we were sitting on her front porch swing eating pickles. it was a very exciting moment to have someone else share the baby's movement!

2) the second person is my mom, gina. it was this week, and i had just stopped by her house to drop off a chai tea latte and say hi. as i was sitting in my honda saying goodbye, i informed her that the baby and i had recently started listening to classical music while driving around. it's suppose to stimulate the brain or something like that. it started kicking, and she quickly put her hand on my stomach. it kicked her twice!! she was so excited! it was great.

3) the third person is beau!! he FINALLY felt it. i know that the baby is super ornery already. it would really get kicking and i would yell for beau to put his hand on my stomach. of course, without fail, the baby would stop. SO! last night we were settled on the couch watching the men's 100 meter prelims for track and field (amazing btw) and the little one started kicking up a storm. beau put his hand on my stomach, and felt it kick for the first time!! he felt it like 12 more times in the next few minutes. i was giggling and so happy. beau shed a few tears and said "that's my baby in there!" happy day for us!

20 week ultrasound

july 14th! my twenty week ultrasound appointment was super fun. beau and i had quite a crowd with us in the room. grandma and grandpa taylor AND grandma and grandpa hart all rolled out for the occasion.

i asked the ultrasound technician if she could tell the sex, and she confidently said yes. i told her not to tell us, so the surprise at the birth would be unforgettable!!! only 27% of pregnant couples wait to find out. i am so anxious.

i get a mix of guesses. some swear its a girl, and some are already calling the little critter a him. grandma gina thinks its a boy. aunt megan and beau feel its a girl. beau is certain that it's the wrestler's curse to be blessed with a girl. my nana thinks its a girl. grandma jane sorta wants a girl so it can be the best dressed little sweetie in town (courtesy of kathleen's corner). personally, i think it may be a little boy.

here's looking at you (with my mouth wide open):

baby taylor's new crib

today was a special day for baby taylor. we purchased a crib from babies r us courtesy of grandma gina!

you like???

it's called the soho 5-in-1 crib. i thought black was very stylish. it converts from a crib to a tiny daybed, and finally into a twin bed. lots of sweet dreams to come!!
